Spinifex Recruiting is partnering with a leading regional council to appoint two key engineering roles supporting the delivery of essential water and wastewater infrastructure across a high‑growth region. We are inviting applications from both Project Engineers (JG7) and Senior Project Engineers - Design/Planning (JG8). The Opportunities:

Project Engineer - Water & Wastewater (JG7)

Perfect for emerging to mid‑level engineers ready to take ownership of project delivery.

What You'll Do:

• Support planning and delivery of water and wastewater projects including pipelines, reservoirs, pumping assets and treatment systems.
• Assist with project scoping, budgeting, contract management, reporting, and scheduling.
• Coordinate consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Manage projects up to $5M under senior guidance.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and legislative requirements.

Senior Project Engineer - Design / Planning (JG8)

Ideal for experienced engineers seeking a senior technical role focused on delivering high‑quality water and wastewater designs.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the planning, investigation, approvals, and detailed design of W&WW infrastructure.
• Prepare technical specifications, design documentation, and tender packages.
• Provide expert engineering judgement on complex design and construction issues.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects and high‑level stakeholder engagement.
• Support capital works planning, procurement, and risk management.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applicants from the following backgrounds:

Highly Suitable:

• Water & wastewater engineering (treatment, reticulation, pumping, design, asset management)

Also Encouraged

• Civil engineers (infrastructure, utilities, design, hydraulics)
• Mechanical engineers (pumps, treatment systems, utilities)
• Engineers from consultancy or government seeking more project ownership

What You'll Bring:

Project Engineer (JG7):

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience in civil, water, wastewater, or municipal infrastructure.

Senior Project Engineer (JG8):

• Bachelor of Engineering and eligibility for Engineers Australia membership.
• High‑level competency in water/wastewater design, procurement, and project delivery.
• Experience managing complex multidisciplinary projects.
