Northparkes uses multiple mining methods including open pit, sub-level caving and was the first mine in Australia to use the block cave mining method. Our Superintendent - Technical Services role:
This is a full-time permanent role on 5/2 or 5/2 - 4/3 roster reporting to the Technical Services Manager. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the mine technical services team and will ensure that the short to medium term plan aligns with Northparkes Life of Mine plan (LOM).
As the Superintendent - Technical Services, your role will consist of the following duties:
- Provide leadership and support to a diverse team of mining engineers, geotechnical engineers, geologist and surveyors.
- Be accountable for the delivery of the 0-3-year production plan and the integration of it with the LOM.
- Manage and coordinate studies that would be required to fulfill the short to medium term production plan, including developing study timelines and execute work programs.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal and external publication.
- Accurately record project status, program outcomes and ensure up to date information to be available for the LOM model
- Develop strong relationship with both long term planning (LTP) and transformation and effectiveness (T&E) departments within the Evolution group.
- Keep on top of advances in mining technology and incorporate these into Northparkes programs
- Actively contribute to cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the technical services team and throughout the organisation.
About you:
- Professional Degree in Mining/ Geology/ Geotechnical Engineering
- 7+ years' experience in the mining industry
- Experience in caving methods (SLC, Block caving)
- Proven experience in leading technical studies (order of magnitude /prefeasibility /feasibility).
- Established communication, leadership, project and budget management skills
- JORC 2012 experience
- Drivers' License (Manual preferred)
