The Opportunity:

Van Rook Station is seeking a dedicated individual to join their team as a Station Mechanic. As the Station Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of all station machinery, from motor vehicles to heavy-duty equipment. Accommodation is provided.

The Location:

Van Rook Station is approx. 135km from Normanton and approx. 145km from Karumba. The nearest major cities are Mount Isa (approx. 637km) and Cairns (approx. 814km).

Duties include:

• Conduct inspections, perform scheduled maintenance, and promptly address breakdowns to uphold the efficiency and quality of all station machinery.
• Manage stock of spare parts and lubricants, including ordering from preferred suppliers.
• Use company-provided tyre fitting equipment for tyre repairs.
• Promote and maintain a positive health and safety culture while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies.
• Carry out tasks under the guidance of the Station Manager and execute repairs and maintenance as agreed upon with management.

Essential Criteria:

• Trade qualification or previous station mechanic experience.
• Proficiency in operating farming equipment and machinery.
• Problem-solving, organisational, and time management abilities.
• Valid C Class motor vehicle license (MR truck licence desirable)
