Tweed Shire Council is looking for a Service Desk Officer to join their IT team at the Civic Centre. This role is the first point of contact for staff needing support with hardware, software, systems, and general tech troubleshooting.

You will be the calm, knowledgeable voice that keeps everything running smoothly and the person staff genuinely appreciate when things are not working as they should.

What you will be doing

  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues for council staff
  • Providing friendly, professional front line customer support
  • Communicating technical information clearly to non technical users
  • Logging, prioritising, and managing tickets through the service desk system
  • Investigating problems, identifying root causes, and preventing repeat issues
  • Providing remote support and guiding users through troubleshooting
  • Maintaining knowledge base articles and documentation
  • Recording clear notes and following consistent support processes
  • Collaborating with the wider IT team when issues need escalation

The details

  • Interviews conducted in December. Start date in Jan
  • Hours 8am to 4.30pm, 9-day fortnight
  • Based at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre
  • Three month assignment with likelihood of extension
