Senior Project Manager - Contracts

Shape the delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Project Manager - Contracts to join a progressive local government organisation and play a key role in delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across civil, water, and wastewater networks.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, hands-on position responsible for managing the full lifecycle of engineering contracts and projects - from procurement planning and tender evaluation through to construction delivery, contract administration, and close-out.
Working within the Infrastructure Delivery Unit, you'll partner with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement in procurement practices and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end project and contract delivery for a range of civil, water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects.
Lead procurement planning, tendering, evaluation, contract award, and administration in line with legislative and policy requirements.
Act as Superintendent's Representative, ensuring compliance, progress payments, and dispute resolution are managed effectively.
Provide technical and contractual advice across multidisciplinary teams.
Oversee budgets, schedules, risk management, WHS compliance, and quality assurance.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, and service providers.
Contribute to continuous improvement of contract management systems, policies, and training resources.
About You
You're a results-driven professional with proven experience managing complex infrastructure contracts within an engineering environment. You bring strong commercial acumen, technical capability, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders with confidence and professionalism.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Engineering, Procurement, Project Management or related discipline, or substantial technical experience in a similar role.
Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering projects and contracts.
Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement, and tendering processes.
Sound understanding of construction practices, design principles, WHS, and risk management.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Current Class C driver's licence.
Desirable:
Experience within Local Government tendering and procurement frameworks.
Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience.
