Job description

We're looking for an Overseer to join the team at Mount Hope Pastoral, a large-scale, family-run livestock and cropping enterprise spanning 145,971 acres across three properties in Western NSW. Located 130 kilometres north of Hillston, the aggregation focuses on managed goats, sheep, fodder production, and a trade cattle enterprise in good seasons.

As Overseer, you'll support the Station Manager to ensure everything runs smoothly - from mustering and infrastructure maintenance to supervising station hands and contractors. This role is ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their agricultural career, combining practical work with leadership, planning, and digital farm systems.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and participate in daily livestock activities
  • Support seasonal cropping operations
  • Oversee water runs, fencing, and machinery operations
  • Maintaining safety and productivity
  • Mentor and train station hands
  • Maintain accurate records using Agriwebb, Donesafe, and other digital systems
  • Monitor pasture and assist with rotational grazing plans
  • Coordinate with suppliers, vets, agronomists, and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to infrastructure planning and operational improvements

About You:

  • Solid experience in livestock management (cattle and sheep essential)
  • Strong machinery operating skills, with the ability to support cropping programs
  • Confident leading and mentoring a team
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and practical problem-solving
  • Competent on two-wheel motorbikes and with farm machinery
  • Strong understanding of farm safety, animal welfare, and record-keeping
  • Comfortable using digital farm tools (training provided if needed)
  • Driver's licence required; machinery tickets or ag qualifications a bonus

What's in It for You:

  • Competitive salary package, accommodation (4-bedroom home), utilities, and meals
  • A supportive, family-friendly team culture
  • Potential for casual work opportunities for a partner, with flexibility based on availability and future station needs
  • Career development and training opportunities within a forward-thinking ag business

Please note this role is applicable to Permanent Australian Residents or Citizens only.

If you're enthusiastic, practical, and ready to help lead a high-performing station team, we'd love to hear from you. APPLY NOW or to discuss further, please contact Anna Brown on 0427 644 527 or Kate McKittrick on 0409 393 696.
