Our Client & Location

Our client operates a well-established and forward-thinking family-owned farming business with three properties located around Forbes, NSW. The business manages a total of 4,550 hectares (11,000 acres) and combines intensive sheep breeding with broadacre cropping. Their flock consists of 7,500 Merino and first-cross ewes, with a focus on producing prime lambs. The cropping program covers 2,500 hectares of wheat, barley, canola and improved pastures, supported by modern farm equipment and advanced sheep handling infrastructure.

This position is based at the property 30 minutes north of West Wyalong, 45 minutes from Condobolin, and just 10-15 minutes from the small towns of Burcher and Ungarie. West Wyalong is a vibrant rural centre with three primary schools, a high school, supermarkets, childcare facilities, cafes, medical services and a strong sense of community.

About the Role

Working closely with the owners and a team of three, you'll take a leading role in day-to-day livestock operations across the 2200 ha West Wyalong property, which runs 3,500 Merino ewes and their progeny. You'll also provide support to cropping operations as needed.

Key duties include:

  • All aspects of sheep husbandry and flock management
  • Machinery operation, including spray rig
  • Infrastructure and paddock maintenance
  • Contributing to a broader team across three properties

About You

  • Strong livestock background - sheep focus preferred
  • Reliable, honest and self-motivated
  • Practical mechanical knowledge and safety mindset
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Digital literacy and an interest in modern farm tech
  • HR licence and ChemCert (or willingness to obtain)
