Operations Planning Engineer/Technical Officer
Job description
This exciting role, reporting to the Operations Coordinator within Byron Shire Council's Infrastructure Services, is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering road, drainage, and associated infrastructure works. Key duties include project and contractor management, design and supervision of road and asset maintenance, preparing and delivering annual programs (reseal, patching, maintenance), budgeting and financial oversight, and providing technical and engineering support to the Works Team.
The position also involves supervising operational staff, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and legislative requirements, liaising with contractors, consultants, community members, and government agencies, and responding to customer requests.
Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Grade 11) or relevant tertiary qualification (Grade 10).
- Experience (or ability to acquire) in road maintenance, bitumen/asphalt works, signs and linemarking, and contractor management.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and contract administration skills.
- Knowledge of WHS, environmental legislation, and risk management.
- Class C driver's licence and White Card.
