Learn to Swim Instructor
Job description
Learn To Swim Instructor
Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre
About the Role
Our client, Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre, is seeking passionate Learn to Swim Instructors who will be instrumental in delivering high-quality Learn to Swim and school swimming lessons. The role focuses on promoting water safety and teaching the fundamental skills of swimming, with progression into the sport of swimming.
Opportunities are available across the Murwillumbah, Tweed South and Kingscliff aquatic centres. Shifts are offered on weekdays and Saturdays within the Learn to Swim Program, as well as weekday school swimming sessions.
This is a casual position offering flexibility; however, once availability is set and shifts are allocated, a level of commitment across the term is required. Consistency is highly valued, as it helps swimmers build confidence and gain the most from their lessons.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification or be willing to obtain one
- Be passionate about water safety and believe learning to swim should be an enjoyable, informative and constructive experience
- Enjoy working with children and engaging them in lessons
- Bring enthusiasm for supporting student progression and delivering high-quality instruction
- Be eager to grow and develop as an instructor and open to feedback
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a Teacher of Infants and Toddlers accreditation (highly desirable)
Why Join This Opportunity?
Successful candidates will join a supportive and welcoming team environment where ongoing training and development are encouraged. This opportunity is well-suited to university students, teachers' aides, early childhood educators, parents returning to the workforce, and current or former swimmers who are passionate about sharing their skills.
Whether candidates are just starting out or looking to build on their experience, this role offers the chance to grow, develop teaching confidence, and be part of a positive and inclusive community.
There is also the opportunity to supplement Learn to Swim hours with shifts in other areas of the centres, including lifeguarding, reception or café operations (subject to relevant qualifications and availability). This provides a strong pathway to build additional skills, increase working hours, and gain broader experience within a dynamic aquatic environment.
