HSEQ Advisor
Job description
HSEQ Advisor - Disaster Response & Residential Restoration
Spinifex Recruiting is proud to partner with a national leader in community-focused disaster response, residential restoration and resilience projects. When homes are damaged by floods, storms or major events, their teams are first on the ground - providing rapid, reliable, safe and compassionate support to help communities recover.
We're now seeking a resilient, practical, on‑the‑ground HSEQ Advisor who thrives in fast‑moving environments and isn't afraid to have fair, firm conversations to keep people safe.
This role is ideal for an established Health & Safety professional who enjoys hands‑on work rather than corporate formality, or it may appeal to a Site Supervisor wanting to further hone their HSEQ skillset.
Why This Role Matters
You'll play a vital role in making disaster‑affected residential sites safe - from make‑safes to rectification works, flood‑affected material handling, hygienist oversight, waste management, earthworks and more.
This is high‑volume, practical, community‑impact health and safety - not sitting behind a desk ticking boxes.
What You'll Be Doing
Operating on a 2 weeks on/1 week off roster, you'll:
- Respond rapidly to disaster events across QLD and the Northern Rivers
- Provide day‑to‑day HSEQ advice to Project Managers and Supervisors
- Drive a strong safety culture built on accountability, communication and collaboration
- Conduct site audits, toolbox talks, pre‑starts and contractor onboarding
- Oversee incident notification, investigations and corrective actions
- Assist with HSEQ plans, SWMS reviews, risk assessments and compliance checks
- Support ISO-accredited quality, environmental and safety systems
- Ensure high‑risk work controls, emergency plans and site protocols are in place
Every day looks different - sometimes structured, sometimes reactive - but always meaningful.
Who We're Looking For
Someone with resilience, influence and a bit of toughness when needed - a person who can win people over on site, build trust quickly, and hold firm on safety.
Mandatory Requirements
- HSEQ qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma or similar)
- 5+ years' experience in HSEQ, construction or related field
- Strong communicator with excellent people skills
- White Card
- Ability to travel at short notice
- High level of organisation and practical problem‑solving
Ideal Experience
- Disaster response, civil, residential or restoration works
- Lead auditing, incident investigation or ISO systems
- Supervisory background transitioning into HSEQ (or vice versa)
What's In It For You
- $120-$140k package including super
- Generous travel, meal and on‑call allowances
- A meaningful role supporting communities in need
- A tight-knit team with strong values: Accountability, Collaboration, Respect
- Scope to grow your career in a rapidly expanding organisation
Ready to Make a Real Impact?
If you're a confident HSEQ professional who enjoys boots‑on‑the‑ground work - and you're ready to jump into a role where no two days are the same - we'd love to hear from you.
