Cropping Farm Manager

The Company:
Ridgewood Farms is a 5,000-acre family-owned business (4,500-acres of which is irrigated), growing primarily irrigated cotton and winter/summer crops.
The Location:
The property is located 20km north of Moree. Moree is known for its rich black soil plains and hot spring in the sort after Golden Triangle. The farm is perfect for families with the school bus going directly past the front gate of the property.
The Role:
As the Cropping Farm Manager, you will be hands-on in leading the team and ensuring the farm runs smoothly day to day. You will take charge of planning and managing irrigation, crops, budgets, and operational procedures, while making sure everything is in line with health and safety standards. Along with fostering a strong team culture, you will keep a close eye on agronomic performance and ensure attention to detail across the board. This role is all about bringing together leadership, planning, and a passion for farming to help the team reach their goals.
What We're Looking For:
We are looking for someone who is not only highly organised but also thrives in overseeing the many moving parts of farm operations. Your deep understanding of irrigation management and commitment to compliance with regulations will be crucial. Strong communication skills are a must, as you will be working closely with staff and stakeholders to keep everything running smoothly. You will bring expertise in budgeting and financial management, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently. With your in-depth knowledge of agricultural practices, combined with a keen eye for detail and a knack for solving problems, you will be well-positioned to make a real impact
Responsibilities will include:
- Effectively manage and plan the farms operations.
- Develop and implement irrigation schedules tailored to crop requirements.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance.
- Develop people through coaching, mentoring and learning opportunities.
- Allocate work, supervise, develop and coach to ensure the provision of efficient and effective operations in line with the Company Policies and legislation.
- Plan, manage and implement the annual maintenance and capital improvement programs.
- Develop and manage the environmental and natural resource programs.
