About the Role

As a Communications Officer, you will:

  • ✅ Deliver Council's corporate communication and media activities.
  • ✅ Manage websites and digital platforms to optimise content quality and user experience.
  • ✅ Maintain a strategic content calendar to ensure timely and consistent communication.


Key Responsibilities

  • 📣 Lead engaging corporate communications and media activities, ensuring alignment with Council guidelines.
  • 📣 Create high-quality content for digital and traditional channels.
  • 📣 Foster collaboration across departments and support community engagement initiatives.


Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrate Council's values: creative, accessible, respectful, energetic, and safe.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience producing copy across all media for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to think creatively and generate new ideas.
  • Strong oral and presentation skills to engage with community groups and stakeholders.
  • High-level computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet competing deadlines.


Desirable

  • Local Government experience.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience in community education/engagement.
  • Graphic design skills and experience.
