Communications and Engagement Officer

Job description

Our client is seeking a Communications & Engagement Officer to support the delivery of major capital works, including the $57M bridge duplication project. This role is suited to professionals experienced in communications, stakeholder engagement, and infrastructure-related project environments.

The position leads the development and implementation of communication and engagement strategies that ensure transparent, timely, and consistent information for residents, businesses, motorists, and key stakeholders. A strong focus is placed on supporting large-scale civil infrastructure projects through clear messaging, effective consultation, and coordinated community engagement activities.

Key responsibilities include:


* Conducting stakeholder analysis and maintaining engagement databases.
* Developing integrated communication strategies for major infrastructure works.
* Coordinating community information sessions, collateral, and public-facing updates.
* Managing engagement channels in collaboration with Council's Communications team.
* Building relationships with contractors, consultants, businesses, and the community.
* Providing reporting, administrative support, and monitoring compliance within the Project Management Framework.
* Supporting project teams with coordination, scheduling, and progress tracking.

Ideal applicants will bring experience in communications and engagement within construction, civil works, or infrastructure settings, coupled with strong writing skills, stakeholder management capability, and proficiency with digital communication tools. Graphic design skills and project coordination experience are highly regarded.
