Communication & Engagement Business Partner
Job description
Are you a natural storyteller with a strategic mind and a passion for community?
Tweed Shire Council is on the lookout for a creative and people-focused Communication & Engagement Business Partner to join their high-performing team in the Corporate Services division.
This is a hands-on, varied role where you'll work closely with internal teams and business partners to deliver best-practice communication and engagement strategies across Council's many programs and services. You'll be informing and involving the community in decisions that affect them - and making sure key messages cut through with clarity and impact.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and deliver strategic marketing, comms and engagement campaigns
- Write and produce engaging content for web, social, video, newsletters, media releases, signage and more
- Support community engagement initiatives and civic events - from drop-in sessions to launches and media opportunities
- Provide advice on campaign planning, digital content, advertising, plain language and brand alignment
- Work across a broad mix of projects - from sustainability and infrastructure to tourism, trails and events
What you'll bring:
- Solid experience in comms, marketing or community engagement
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating events
- Sharp writing skills with the ability to tailor content to different audiences and platforms
- A collaborative approach and strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Creativity, initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Confidence with tools like Canva, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office - and ideally some photo/video experience too
On our wish list:
- A degree (or postgrad quals) in communications, marketing, journalism, PR, community engagement or similar
- IAP2 certification or a strong understanding of engagement best practice
- Experience in a fast-paced, full-service comms team - especially within government or complex organisations
