Assistant Program Officer

Job description

As an Assistant Program Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of financial assistance programs by providing high-quality customer service, assessing applications, and managing post-approval processes. You'll be part of a dedicated team helping individuals and communities access critical support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review complex applications and claims, providing recommendations based on eligibility criteria and responsible lending standards

  • Identify and manage suspected fraudulent claims, escalating cases to the Manager

  • Draft correspondence and prepare reports related to funding deeds, securities, and application variations

  • Liaise with financial institutions to obtain consent for loan documentation and apply responsible lending practices

  • Maintain accurate records in RAA databases to support informed decision-making

  • Provide timely and accurate advice to applicants, resolving issues and managing complaints professionally

Key Challenges

  • Managing multiple priorities within tight timeframes to meet service expectations

  • Staying current with policies, procedures, and responsible lending guidelines across various programs

  • Handling sensitive enquiries and complaints from distressed or irate clients

  • Validating complex client information, particularly securities documentation for loans
