Laboratory Technician - Water and Wastewater Division
About the Role:
our client is seeking an experienced and skilled Laboratory Technician to join the Water and Wastewater Business and Assets Unit. As part of a dedicated team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality water supply and wastewater services to the community.
This position focuses on the analysis of water, wastewater, soil, and biosolid samples using advanced techniques, including both chemical and microbiological analysis. You will also have the opportunity to work with scientific instruments and participate in field sampling surveys.
The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, regularly adjusting priorities to meet customer demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality scientific testing and analysis of water, wastewater, soil, and other matrices submitted by clients.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain complex scientific instruments in compliance with specified methods and procedures.
- Manage the receipt, registration, and storage of samples using the Laboratory Information System
- Rotate between key areas of the lab, including General Chemistry, Microbiology, Phycology, and instrumental analysis (FIA, ICP, GCMS).
About You:
- Ideally minimum Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques/Operations, Analytical Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related science discipline.
- Experience in a laboratory, preferably within the water/wastewater sector, though other scientific fields will be considered.
- Proficiency in instrumental analysis and Classical analysis of water, wastewater, and soil.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex instrumentation and resolve issues.
- Strong computer literacy, ideally experience with instrumentation software and the ability to manage sample data via LIMS.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Ideally knowledge of sample storage, preservation, and handling procedures.
- Current driver's license (Car).
