Our client is establishing a greenfield site in Parkes, NSW to develop a state-of-the-art food manufacturing facility. The facility will represent next generation product innovation and development, incorporating unique, highly automated manufacturing and packaging technology, not currently being used anywhere else in Australia. To ensure a consistently high quality of product, there is a strong focus on practical quality steps at all stages of the manufacturing process. The QA Officer will work closely with the QA Manager to assist in preparation of quality documentation. They will also work in the plant to sample and test raw materials, in process and finished product, and packaging materials. In addition, they will be involved in environmental monitoring, water sampling and in factory hygiene checks.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Work closely with the QA Manager to develop, implement and improve the Quality Management system and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Sample collection and laboratory testing of raw materials, in-process goods and finished products
  • Documentation of results and sample retention as appropriate
  • Communicate any non-conformance results and take appropriate action
  • Travel to contract manufacturing partners to perform QC sampling and testing as required
  • Conduct microbiological sampling and analyses for factory hygiene, water sampling and environmental monitoring
  • Collect, monitor and report on customer complaints and corrective action progress

Above all else, you will be reliable, self-motivated and able to work unsupervised as you will be representing the company at third party sites. Additional requirements include:

  • Diploma in Laboratory Techniques, Food Science or similar. A higher degree is not essential.
  • Prior experience in the preparation of SOPs and quality documentation
  • Experience in Quality control testing, particularly Near InfraRed Analysis
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organization and record-keeping skills
  • problem-solving and analytical skills
